This privacy notice describes how Abbott collects, uses, and/or shares your personal information that you provide to us on this website (the “website”) controlled by Abbott Laboratories Limited U.K. (“Abbott”), Abbott House, Vanwall Business Park, Vanwall Road, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 4XE United Kingdom. 

Abbott may offer certain products, programs or services that have unique or additional terms, privacy notices and/or consent forms that explain how Abbott processes your information. Personal information is defined as any information that identifies you as an individual or could be used to reasonably identify you. Examples include, but are not limited to: your name, address, email and contact information. Abbott Laboratories Limited U.K., (“Abbott”) is the Data Controller for the processing of your personal data for the purposes mentioned below.

Sensitive Personal Information/Special Category of data means Personal Information that is considered sensitive under the U.K. data protection law, and can include but is not limited to: genetic data, racial and ethnic origin, political opinions, religious, philosophical or ideological convictions, biometric data.

Abbott may collect and process the following data about you: 

• Personal Information You Submit: Abbott collects personal information that you enter into data fields on this website. For example, you may submit your name, postal address, e-mail address, and/or other information in order to receive information about various subjects, register for Abbott programs, contact Abbott customer service, or respond to Abbott surveys. To protect your privacy, you should not provide Abbott with any information that is not specifically requested.
• Passive Collection of Unidentifiable Information: This Website may collect information about your visits to it without you actively submitting such information. Unidentifiable information may be collected using various technologies, such as cookies, and web beacons. Cookies are small text files that are transferred to your computer’s hard disk by a website. Web beacons (also referred to as GIF files, pixels or Internet tags) help Abbott recognize a unique cookie on your browser. Your Internet browser automatically transmits to our Abbott Website some of this unidentifiable information, such as the Uniform Resource Locater (URL) of the website you just visited and the browser version your computer is operating. Passive information collection technologies can make your use of the Abbott Website easier by allowing Abbott to provide better service, customize the Abbott Website based on consumer preferences, compile statistics, analyse trends, and otherwise administer and improve the Abbott Website. Certain features of the Abbott Website may not work without use of passive information collection technologies. Information collected by these technologies cannot be used to identify you without additional identifiable information and Abbott will not connect additional identifiable information with information collected through the use of such tracking technologies. 
• Information we receive from other Sources: We may receive information about you if you use any of the other websites that we operate or the other services that we provide. We are also working closely with third parties (including, for example, business partners, sub-contractors in technical, payment and delivery services, advertising networks, analytics providers, search information providers, credit reference agencies) and may receive information about you from them. 

Abbott may collect, use, and disclose the following types of Personal Information:

• Purposes for collection, use, and disclosure: Provide you with our Services, educational information, promotions and reward programs including sending marketing communications, invitations to events, trainings, surveys, polls, etc. ; customer service and support, communicate with you, analytics and data analysis, and comply with the law
• Categories of Personal Information we may collect, use or disclose:
  • Identifiers, including name, email address, mailing address, online identifier, IP address, phone number, or other similar identifiers.
  • Characteristics of protected classifications, including month and year of birth, gender.
  • Internet or other electronic network activity information, including IP address, browsing history, search history, and information on your interaction with Abbott Services and advertisements.
  • Geolocation data, including location information based on your use of our websites or mobile apps if you choose to provide it.
• Lawful Basis: Your consent.
• Categories of recipients to whom Personal Information may be disclosed: Analysis firms, advertisers, customer service and support providers, email, IT services and SMS vendors, web hosting and development companies, and fulfillment companies, professional consulting firms, auditors, accountants, and legal services firms.

In addition, some of our applications and mobile-optimized sites may have location-based features. To deliver these features, we may collect and use location data provided by your mobile device. For example, we may offer shopping features that allow you to get information about local merchants. When you use such applications, you are asked to consent to the collection and use of your mobile device location data for purposes of delivering these location- based features.

Abbott may share your personal information with a third party in connection with the sale or transfer of one of its product lines or divisions so the buyer can continue to perform the processing of personal data for the above-mentioned purposes, where applicable. Abbott may be required to disclose your personal information in response to authorized information requests from government authorities or law enforcement agencies, or when otherwise required by law. In certain cases, Abbott may also disclose your personal information to legal advisers and auditors, when required and legally permitted.

Abbott may also share or provide access to your personal information to vendors with whom Abbott contracts to carry out business activities on its behalf (e.g., customer support services, delivery services, online payment services and fraud detection services, cloud, or hosting providers, marketing activities, where applicable, etc.). If Abbott provides your personal information to vendors to assist us with our business activities, it is Abbott’s practice to require those vendors to keep your personal information confidential and to use your personal information only to perform functions following Abbott’s instructions, including its erasure or return upon termination of their services.

We may allow certain companies to place tracking technologies, such as cookies or tracking pixels on our websites. Abbott does not knowingly collect or use any personal information from children, except if explicitly indicated in the Privacy Notice. We do not knowingly allow children to order our products, communicate with us, or use any of our online services.

If you are a parent and become aware that your child has provided us with information, please contact us at the above email address, and we will work with you to address this issue.

We will keep your Personal Information in our records for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or otherwise authorized by law. This includes providing you with a service you have requested from us or to comply with applicable legal requirements. It also includes keeping your Personal Information for so long as there is any possibility that you or we may wish to bring a legal claim, or where we are required to keep your personal information for legal or regulatory reasons. Where information is used for more than one purpose, we will retain it until the purpose with the latest period expires.  Where we no longer require your Personal Information for any of the purposes described in this Privacy Notice, your personal information will be deleted from our systems and will no longer be available to us.

Where permitted by law, Abbott may require transferring your personal data to other jurisdictions different from the country or region where you are based (e.g., outside of the European Union if you are a based in an EU country).

To safeguard your personal information, we will only make such transfers based on appropriate legal grounds of the applicable country, such as (i) a decision by the European Commission that permits this, or in the case of the United Kingdom, a decision by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), or (ii) subject to EU-approved Standard Contractual Clauses or, for the UK, an ICO approved data transfer agreement.

• The right to rectify any wrong or incomplete personal data that Abbott holds about you.
• The right to opt out at any time of processing activities based on legitimate interest (e.g., on some occasions, opt-out from receiving marketing material from us). This will be noted at the bottom of any email you receive from Abbott.
• The right to access the personal data that Abbott holds about you.
• The right, in some cases, to object to the processing of your personal data on legitimate grounds.

It is Abbott’s practice to apply appropriate security measures to the processing of personal information, however, the confidentiality of personal information transmitted over the Internet cannot be guaranteed. We urge you to exercise caution when transmitting personal information over the Internet, especially personal information related to your health, where applicable.

We may provide links to websites and other third-party content that are not owned or operated by Abbott. You should check the privacy policies of any third-party sites different from this one before submitting personal information.

Personal information can be accessed by a restricted number of Abbott employees. We train our employees about the importance of privacy and how to handle and manage personal information appropriately and securely.

If Abbott changes its privacy practices, an updated version of this Privacy Notice will reflect those changes and we will notify you of such changes by updating the effective date at the top of this Privacy Notice.
